Video 6 ♔ I'm So Lonely

[Francis looks a little distracted and uncertain. He lets out a sigh.]

I wonder if I might prevail on one of the ladies of the Barge for some company? [He smiles in acknowledgement of how it sounds.] Nothing, untoward, I... just was reminded of how I missed my wife in that port. She's an intelligent, witty woman and I very much relied on her to give me a grounding.

My rank is likely something you won't understand. [Because no one else has.] But I am the leader of an entire military force, under my Commander Hordak. It's my job to advise him on how best to implement our army and to carry out his orders.

Oh, you're from beyond the Earth, I take it?

I'd be very interested in finding out if there is any difference between abroad and our poor planet bound tactics.

On that I think you might be disappointed. War is a universal thing. The landscapes can change from planet to planet, but in the end it's all much the same.

There does seem to be very little difference between people here. It's almost anticlimactic after hearing the spiel about interdimensional space ships and alternate realities to find that the only difference between people are appearances and peculiar abilities.

For those who don't live in worlds where interplanetary travel is commonplace, I can imagine you would be disappointed. The sad truth of the universe is, people are exactly the same, no matter where you go.

It's absolute murder on my plans to hone my people managing skills here. I thrive on the unexpected.

I can't imagine you've seen everything there is to see just yet, dearie. There may yet be surprises out there for you.

How have you bared it? I can't imagine going from a military advisor to here was an easy adjustment.

This? It's like an extended vacation, dearie. I admit, I dislike being held against my will anywhere, but there's no reason not to make the best of things in the meantime.

Oh, I don't disagree with making the best of it. There are those here who entertain, to a degree. But holidays have specific ends to them. This... is much more like retirement. Or, at the very least, gardening leave.

Perhaps I'm adjusting better because I haven't had a holiday in an exceptionally long time.

[And she expects it to end. She just has to be patient.]

I would think that would make it worse, not better. [So does Francis really. Though he's doing it the 'right way'.] But I suppose having a warden helps? Someone to... [target.] bounce off.

You make it sound as though I've only been idle, but that's not the case. I've been quite active since my capture. Having a Warden merely gives me an area of focus, that I hadn't chosen.

Escape, you mean? [He shrugs.] Can't say I relish the idea of yanking everyone to my world. Aside from the inconvenience of being put back in a position to be arrested, it's about time I moved on and everyone would be terrifically bored. No cyborgs in my world, alas. But I wouldn't mind visiting yours. [Might be interesting.]

Besides, the Admiral gives everyone what they want upon graduation and I've no problem with adapting.

That was quite a leap of logic. What makes you think that I'm plotting an escape, or that I'd want to take this boat with me?

[She's not offended, just amused and curious. Because she's totally planning an escape, but that isn't all she spends her time doing.]

[Shrug.] It's what everyone's up to. Well, those with the imagination to do other things than stab people. Besides, it's everyone's duty to get out. Escape does that without bowing to the system.

I think I've just been accused of being fashionable. [And that pleases her, clearly.] And still with no evidence. [Watch her continue to not deny it.]

Evidence? My dear, I'm a politician. Evidence is something one makes up.

That certainly does sound like a politician.

[She is not unfamiliar with made up evidence. She's only a little bitter about it these days. Not enough for it to show though.]

But I admit to nothing.

[He just smiles.] That also sounds like a politician.

Purely coincidental, I assure you. I've never been good at politics.

Oh? Shame. It's a fine sport. Though few, even in the profession, are really up to it.

I'm guessing you're one of the few true political athletes then.

It's something I enjoy doing. You can always tell.

Perhaps I'll keep an eye on you then. I might learn something.
